Project Spotlight: The Yellowstone Club Spa

October 1, 2020

This fall is the perfect time to turn inward and regenerate, and the Yellowstone Club Spa, majestically perched in the Rocky Mountains in Big Sky, Montana just northwest of Yellowstone National Park, was designed to put guests in touch with perhaps the greatest healing source – mother nature.

In designing the spa, BraytonHughes aimed to honor the rich geophysical landscape of one of the most beautiful mountain terrains in the world and the rich Native American culture that characterizes the state and its surroundings. With the use of natural, textured materials and finishes, dramatic yet soothing cove lighting, and modern, sculptural furniture influenced by the Montana landscape, the spa becomes an extension of the natural environment rather than a siloed amenity.

As guests travel into the space, they enter different rooms of organic shapes as if inside the earth. Luscious earth tones, asymmetrical shapes, and neutral-toned furnishings reinforce connections with nature, and soft
lighting and white walls create a calm, soothing spa atmosphere where guests can unwind and rejuvenate after a long day on the slopes, on the golf course, or just navigating 2020.

Statement Spaces: BāBā

July 2, 2020

BāBā is the true center of action in Yellowstone Club’s Village Core, and we hope it sparks new ideas for other one-of-a-kind statement spaces with a story to tell.

Statement spaces carry subtle magnetism as unexpected, eye-catching elements that stay in harmony with the surrounding context. One such space is Yellowstone Club’s new signature restaurant, BāBā by Ming Tsai, where the barn, school, and ranch house structures of Montana’s past informed the design. Located at the heart of Yellowstone Club’s Village Core, the octagonally-shaped dining room boasts 360-degree views of the scenic Rocky Mountains of Big Sky, Montana, and draws attention through its central location, distinctive shape, and lighting. Natural daylight permeates through glass walls and high clerestory windows, and at night, outsiders are drawn to the central Village Core glow, where sconces suspended from a ring of timber columns create a rhythm around the room and a welcoming feeling. Creating a central hub with indoor outdoor flexibility, architecture firm Hart Howerton enclosed BāBā with a series of glass doors that can open to the plaza, providing a private space for receptions, lectures, and meetings, or for activity to spill out from multiple openings and transform into alfresco dining.
