controller, 10+ years

 BraytonHughes Design Studios is seeking a motivated, resourceful, organized, and multi-tasking individual to be a Controller. The Controller position is responsible for all the accounting operations of the company and some human resource functions. The Controller is also responsible for cash management and risk management.

Responsibilities and essential job functions included but are not limited to the following:

  • Prepare and manage the annual budget and forecasts.

  • Analyze the budget and forecast variances.  Report significant issues to the Partners.

  • Produce periodic financial reports, including calculating and issuing monthly backlog reports.

  • Provide financial analysis, as needed, for capital investments, pricing decisions and contract negotiations.

  • Provide 401K reporting to an outside Agency per payroll and annually.

  • Prepare and issue invoices with project reimbursable expenses to customers.

  • Ensure that accounts receivable are collected promptly and reconciled with projects.

  • Ensure that accounts payable are logged and paid in a timely manner and reconciled with projects.

  • Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis.

  • Process payroll with ADP.

  • Maintain the accounting records.

  • Human Resources

    • Track vacation and sick pay accrual in accordance with company policy and city and state ordinances.

    • Coordinate healthcare and benefits package with outside benefits consultants.

    • Maintain HR compliance with local, state, and federal government ordinances.

Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration from a 4-year university, or equivalent business experience and 10+ years of progressively responsible experience for a similar sized company. 

  • Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designations a plus.

  • Controller at an architecture or professional services firm a plus.

  • Will be expected to work periodic weekends or evenings, especially during year-end.

  • Knowledge of Ajera software, or similar accounting software, a plus.

  • Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) required.
